Dr. McNamara

Biography

Bernard T. McNamara, MD, FACP, FACEP, FAAEM, is a distinguished physician specializing in emergency medicine and infectious diseases, with a career spanning over four decades. He currently practices in Aliso Viejo, California, where he focuses on emergency medicine and primary care, including infection prevention and control.

Education and Training

Dr. McNamara earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University in 1972 and subsequently completed his medical degree at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1977. He underwent a medical internship at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center followed by a residency in internal medicine at the same institution. He further specialized with a fellowship in infectious diseases at Wadsworth VA Medical Center in collaboration with UCLA.

Professional Experience

Dr. McNamara has held various prominent positions throughout his career. Currently, he serves as the Assistant Director of the Emergency Department at Foothill Regional Medical Center and is affiliated with several emergency medicine groups including Culver Emergency Medical Group and Anaheim Emergency Medical Group. His extensive experience includes previous roles as a medical director and active staff member at multiple hospitals across California.

Certifications and Licenses

He is board-certified in internal medicine, infectious disease, and emergency medicine, with multiple re-certifications demonstrating his commitment to ongoing professional development. Dr. McNamara holds medical licenses in several states including California, South Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, and Missouri.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. McNamara has contributed to the field through various certifications in infection control and antimicrobial stewardship. He has also been involved in teaching and mentoring upcoming medical professionals throughout his career.
